Frequently Asked Questions

Do you store my uploaded files?

The current beta version processes uploaded files to calculate hashes and generate reports. It does not retain the original uploaded files. It stores technical hashes and metadata for verification records.

What is a proof certificate?

A proof certificate records file metadata, a SHA-256 hash, a timestamp, and a verification URL or QR code. It helps users later compare a file with the recorded hash.

Is this legal notarization?

No. ProofTools.io provides technical hash verification records only. It is not legal notarization, official certification, regulatory approval, audit assurance, financial verification, or compliance certification.

What is a Carbon Evidence Pack?

A Carbon Evidence Pack is a technical evidence index for carbon-related files such as energy bills, ESG reports, sensor CSV files, maintenance records, and supporting documents. It does not certify carbon credits or provide ESG assurance.

What is an IoT Sensor Data Proof Report?

It is a technical summary of an uploaded sensor CSV file, including file hash, detected columns, row count, basic value summary, range checking, and timestamp gap review. It does not certify sensor calibration or regulatory compliance.

Can I verify a file later?

Yes. Use the Verify File Hash tool or calculate the file's SHA-256 hash independently and compare it with the hash shown in the proof record.
